West Maui Transit Oriented Community Plan

ECONorthwest supported Maui County and a multidisciplinary consultant team in an effort to re-imagine the Ka’ahumanu Ave Community Corridor to promote new housing, transportation options, landscaping and walkways. ECONorthwest prepared a Market Study Report summarizing existing market conditions and trends for apartments, mixed-use, office, retail, and hospitality to inform planning for a range of land uses within the study area and inform future development opportunities. ECONorthwest also prepared a housing inventory and analysis that described existing housing inventory and housing need and identified strategies that the County of Maui could use to preserve and expand the supply of affordable, workforce, and mixed-income housing in the study area. The project team also identified opportunity sites for market-rate or affordable housing development within the corridor.
