Santiam Canyon Recovery Framework

Marion County has supported the Santiam Canyon residents and communities in immediate wildfire response and early recovery efforts. It recognizes the Santiam Canyon communities and other local and regional partners will need to take an active role in the next phases of fire recovery and future economic development. This project provided a roadmap for that transition to occur. ECONorthwest worked with Logan Simpson under an EPA Technical Assistance grant to Marion County to develop a Recovery Framework to support long-term fire recovery work. Marion County facilitated this Framework on behalf of the communities in the Santiam Canyon, which the team worked closely with to gather lessons learned and future recovery and investment priorities, which became part of the Framework document. The Framework was reviewed and accepted by the Marion County Board of County Commissioners and the Gates and Detroit City Councils as a collaborative working document to guide ongoing wildfire recovery activities and inform future investment decisions in the Canyon.
