Dr. Chris Sichko specializes in environmental, labor, and agricultural economics.
At ECOnorthwest, Chris studies the socio-economic impacts of wildfire mitigation practices, the effects of natural disasters on manufacturing, and the water quality implications of nitrogen management in agriculture. His work combines econometrics and statistical analysis with topical and qualitative expertise. Prior to joining ECO, Chris was a Research Economist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service. At ERS Chris published numerous USDA reports and academic papers, including lead author publications in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, World Development, and the Journal of Economic Geography.
Outside of his work as an economist, Chris is a commercially licensed pilot who tows gliders in Piper Pawnees and Super Cubs. He is also an especially active outdoorsman who loves spending weekends and free time fishing, hunting, tracking, trailing, photographing, and observing wildlife in the Colorado mountains.
