ECOnorthwest conducted an analysis of the proposed Harvest Hills wind farm’s impact on the economy of Whitman County. The project is located in Washington’s Palouse, a region known for its highly productive agriculture. As part of the analysis, the potential adverse effects on the local agricultural economy were examined, revealing that these impacts were insignificant. This finding underscores the compatibility of wind farms with agricultural activities. The study also estimated the economic effects of the project’s construction and operation, including direct, indirect, and induced impacts on output, jobs, and income. Furthermore, ECOnorthwest assessed potential property value changes in the local area and evaluated the fiscal impacts on the county, focusing on property and sales taxes related to the project.
