ECOnorthwest worked with the University of Maryland’s National Center for Smart Growth (NCSG) to prepare an Equitable TOD Strategy for the Purple Line corridor. This effort considered how local stakeholders can leverage existing and available tools to support equitable TOD, economic development, and multi-modal mobility in the Purple Line corridor. ECOnorthwest evaluated the type, scale, and location of development that might be feasible in Purple Line station areas under current and possible future conditions and prepared an Economic Development Assessment focused on inclusive economic development opportunities for workforce development, small business and entrepreneurship, and targeted industries. Other deliverables included a literature review of transit impacts on real estate, a summary of existing and potential funding tools, and a financing strategy to accompany the Equitable TOD Strategy.
