Madeline Baron was quoted in Eugene Weekly about her research on homelessness in the Portland area as it pertains to an important policy question: Does having more services increase homelessness? Madeline cited Portland’s Point-In-Time counts which reveal that few homeless individuals report relocating to an area because of the availability of services. Additionally, Madeline discussed ECONorthwest’s previous work on homelessness stating, “We also surveyed the research and didn’t find anything that directly correlates to the presence of services drawing people to the area. So far it is unproven.”
