ECONorthwest’s Justin Sherill co-authored a research article in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS) titled, “Geographies of Insecure Water Access and the Housing-Water Nexus in US Cities.” In the paper Justin and his co-authors, Katie Meehan (King’s College, London), Jason R. Jurjevich (University of Arizona), and Nicholas M. J. Chun (University of Arizona), examine disparities in piped water access in urban areas of the United States. The authors conclude that, “gaps in urban water access are neither random nor accidental but underpinned by precarious housing conditions and systemic social and racialized inequality.”
