The worldwide semiconductor shortage is the cause of snowballing supply chain issues, major frustration, and the loss of hundreds of billions of dollars. However, always on the search for answers, ECONorthwest is excited to be part of the team helping Greater Portland, Metro, and communities across Washington County support growth in one of our region’s important sectors by evaluating supply chain gaps in the semiconductor and related industries. This work was conducted as a pilot project to implement the recently adopted Greater Portland Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy. Oregon’s technology manufacturing sector is a major employment and capital resource, and we are proud to be doing research to bolster it.
