ECONorthwest Releases New Report on the Economic Implications of Proposed Seattle Employee Tax

Would taxing big businesses in Seattle really help homelessness? Commissioned by the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, ECONorthwest’s economic impact study on the proposed Seattle head tax exposes the economic implications, which include reducing jobs overall, disproportionately impacting lower wage earners, and exacerbating the causes of homelessness. Findings include a possible loss of $3.5 billion in total economic output from the proposed tax.
